How to find people and blogs to read on Blogger

Where do I find blogs to read?

How do I find other people on Blogger?

How do I find blogs with same interest as mine?

Those are some of the more common questions asked in Blogger Help Forum. Many questions, yet all of them lead to just one answer -Profile browsing.

You can go to any Blogger profile page and click on any of the links on the page to get a list of other bloggers sharing the same industry, occupation, location, interest, favorite book, movie, or music.

For a start go to Dashboard and click View Profile to see your own profile.
Clicking any of the keyword links inside your Blogger Profile page will take you to other Bloggers that share the same keyword. Blogger profile

The results are arranged with people whose blogs updated the latest at the top.

browse profiles

But wait a minute, what if your keyword is not on the list. For example you want see people with “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” in their Favorite Movies list. You love the movie but for some reason reluctant to put it in your list…uum.

So here is what you do:

  1. Copy the url from Favorite Movies category in the table below and paste it in your browser url bar.
  2. Replace KEYWORD_HERE with “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians”, like this:
    http://www.blogger.com/profile-find.g?t=m&q=Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
  3. Hit Enter, and voila! you’ll be presented with a list of people who adore this movie, all 56 of them! (at the time of writing this article)
Category URL
Industry http://www.blogger.com/profile-find.g?t=j&ind=KEYWORD_HERE
Occupation http://www.blogger.com/profile-find.g?t=o&q=KEYWORD_HERE
Location refer to Finding Blogspot Blogs By Location
Interests http://www.blogger.com/profile-find.g?t=i&q=KEYWORD_HERE
Favorite Movies http://www.blogger.com/profile-find.g?t=m&q=KEYWORD_HERE
Favorite Music http://www.blogger.com/profile-find.g?t=s&q=KEYWORD_HERE
Favorite Books http://www.blogger.com/profile-find.g?t=b&q=KEYWORD_HERE

Enjoy!

Do you know other ways of finding people or blogs on Blogger?

I'm loving digging around your site and finding all your tutorials - brilliant thanks.

Quick query on finding people with blogs similar to mine, is it possible to search for people with the same three keywords as mine in their interests i.e. sewing, fabric & business? I don't want to search through all 1,100,000 people who list sewing on their profile! Just those who have a couple of the same words as mine.

Thanks again for great tips, Elle x

There is only one way to do this. Go to Google Reader and type in your subject. It will display the blogs with your keyword.

Or, you know, they could put a proper search bar at the top of the page like every other NORMAL website. Seriously, is that so difficult? I mean, Blogger is powered by GOOGLE for goodness sakes, they didn't think to put a search bar in their page design?

Morgen March 29, 2012 at 7:20 PM

100% agreed.

@Anonymous
Blogger and blogspot refer to the same platform -Blogger.
The URLs above will list blogs on both .blogspot.com domain and custom domain since both of them uses Blogger platform.

How do you find a blogger if you do know his real name, but you don't know the xxxxxxs in xxxxxxx.blogspot.com (or in fact if it's actually blogspot.com or soemthign else, like blogspot.nl)

Greenlava June 19, 2012 at 1:04 AM

@testerMF
Try Google "blogger user profile HIS_REAL_NAME". If he uses his real name in his Blogger profile, then the profile should come out first in search results.

Tricia McLeod,  September 24, 2013 at 5:21 PM

Tricia McLeod- I am searching for long lost family. Two boys born David Trueman 24/9/1953 (60 today) and Geoffrey Trueman born 9/6/1955. Both in Stockport, then Cheshire and adopted soon after birth. I do not know if they are in the same area or now what they are called. If anyone thinks they can help it would be very much appreciated.
